General
What is Vaelri Vault?

Vaelri Vault is an offline file encryption app for Android that lets you securely store sensitive files inside an encrypted vault. It does not require an account, internet connection, or subscription.

Who is Vaelri Vault designed for?

Vaelri Vault is designed for privacy-conscious users, travelers, journalists, and anyone who wants to protect sensitive files without relying on cloud services or high-end devices.

Can I use Vaelri Vault without internet?

Yes. Vaelri Vault works completely offline. It does not require an internet connection to encrypt, store, or access your files.

Security & Encryption
Does Vaelri Vault use AES-256 encryption?

Yes. Vaelri Vault uses strong, modern encryption, AES-256-GCM, to protect your data.

Can Vaelri Vault be hacked?

No system can be guaranteed to be completely unhackable. However, Vaelri Vault is designed to minimize risk by operating entirely offline, which removes common remote attack vectors.

Your security ultimately depends on your device and the strength of your PIN.

What happens if I forget my PIN?

Your PIN cannot be recovered. Vaelri Vault does not store it in a recoverable form.

If you forget it, you may need to reset the vault, which can make existing encrypted files inaccessible.

Is this different from Android’s built-in encryption?

Yes. Android’s built-in encryption protects the entire device, mainly in cases of loss or theft. Vaelri Vault adds another layer by allowing you to encrypt specific files separately inside a secure container.

Usage & Features
Where are my encrypted files stored?

Encrypted files are stored locally inside your Vaelri Vault on your device. Vaelri Vault does not upload files to any server and does not provide cloud sync.

For the broader overview, see the offline encrypted vault page.

What happens to the original unencrypted file?

By default, Vaelri Vault deletes the unencrypted original after a successful encryption.

You can change this behavior in settings if you prefer to keep the original.

How do I view or edit a protected file?

When you open a file, it is decrypted locally so you can view or edit it. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent to any server.

What if I decrypt a file and forget to re-encrypt it?

When you open Vaelri Vault again, it checks for files that were decrypted but not re-encrypted since the last session.

You are prompted to secure anything left exposed.

What Android versions are supported?

Vaelri Vault supports Android 7.0 and newer devices.

Does Vaelri Vault sync across devices?

No. Vaelri Vault does not use accounts, cloud storage, or subscription-based syncing. Your encrypted data stays on your device.

Can I move my vault to another device?

No. Vaelri Vault is designed for local, single-device use. It does not include vault transfer or cross-device support.

Will Vaelri Vault slow down my phone?

No. Vaelri Vault is optimized to run efficiently, including on low to mid-range Android devices, with minimal background impact.

Pricing & Privacy
Does Vaelri Vault require a subscription?
